Who can use this pathway?
DVA funding depends on your card, clinical need and referral.
- Gold / All Conditions card: chiropractic care may be funded when there is an assessed clinical need.
- White / Specific Conditions card: care must relate to a condition accepted by DVA.
Before your appointment.
Arrange a referral.
Ask your GP or another authorised referrer about chiropractic assessment. Contact reception if you are unsure whether your current referral is suitable.
Check the details with reception.
Tell us you are booking as a DVA patient. Have your Veteran Card and referral available so eligibility and the remaining treatment cycle can be checked.
Bring your questions.
At your appointment, discuss your symptoms, daily activities and goals with Dr Shahar. Bring relevant reports and a list of medicines.
Questions about funding.
Is there a gap fee?
There is no out-of-pocket fee for eligible covered chiropractic visits at this clinic. DVA is billed for covered care. Ask reception to confirm the arrangements before your appointment.
How long does a referral last?
A DVA allied health treatment cycle generally ends after 12 sessions or one year, whichever comes first. This is a funding limit, not a recommendation that you need 12 visits. Further care requires appropriate review and referral.
What if I already see another allied health practitioner?
Tell reception and Dr Shahar about other care, including physiotherapy, osteopathy or another chiropractor. DVA has rules about overlapping services, so check before booking concurrent treatment.
