YOUR INFORMATION & RIGHTS

General education, individual assessment and informed choices about care.

General education, individual decisions

This website provides general information about chiropractic care, common concerns, research and movement. It is not a personal diagnosis, a treatment plan or a substitute for an assessment by an appropriately qualified health practitioner. A symptom description or illustration cannot establish the cause of your symptoms.

Reading the website, using a checklist, watching a video or sending an enquiry does not establish a clinical care relationship or provide informed consent for treatment. Suitability for care, options, material risks, likely benefits and alternatives need to be discussed in the context of your individual assessment. You can ask questions and decide whether to proceed.

Outcomes and evidence

Responses to care vary. No particular improvement, recovery time, prevention effect or long-term outcome is guaranteed. Descriptions of goals or possible benefits are not promises of what will happen for you.

Research findings apply to the populations, methods and outcomes studied. An association does not by itself prove cause and effect, and laboratory findings do not automatically establish a clinical benefit. Clinical observations and proposed explanations should not be taken as proof of effectiveness. Links to research and educational resources are provided for context; they do not establish that every approach is suitable for every person.

Exercises, stretching and posture information

Illustrations and exercise suggestions are general examples, not an individual prescription. Your symptoms, health conditions, injuries, recent procedures and current capacity may affect what is suitable. Ask an appropriate practitioner if you are unsure before starting or changing a routine.

Do not force a movement or continue an activity that causes new or worsening symptoms. Stop and seek advice when needed. Website education should not delay an assessment or replace advice specific to your situation.

Professional role

Dr David Shahar, DC, PhD is a chiropractor and researcher with a PhD in Clinical Biomechanics. On this website, “Dr” refers to him in that professional context; it does not identify him as a medical practitioner. Read more on the About page.

Enquiries and urgent care

The contact form, email and SMS are for general enquiries and are not emergency or real-time clinical advice services. A submitted message does not confirm an appointment. Use the booking service or contact the clinic for appointment confirmation.

In an emergency in Australia, call 000. Do not wait for a website enquiry response.
